| We were at Big Bazaar yesterday and Kavya said she wanted a toy. For which I reminded her she already at a toy tiger she had bought just a few days ago. She quickly reminds me that it is not a toy, and it is not a tiger but Benji! [How would I know, I was not called to the naming ceremony!] And that is just a stuffed animal and so not a toy per se! When I stick to my ground she says "Shall I buy a book instead?" I agree and she quickly picks a book on kittens. A little later she tells me that she doesn't want the book and wants to select a toy instead. And if she could select the Hanuman sword! [Since when did Hanuman get a sword? Our toy manufacturers I tell you!] This sword is almost as big as Kavya.
Anyway after lots of dillying and dallying she finally selected a 'Roadside Romeo' comic book, and was busy reading it even as we were in the store.

| On Saturday we had gone to the Bharat Mall. At the Depot Kavya was busy trying to buy a doll for herself. She reads the price tag these days you know and would read '299' put it away, 390 put it away, bigger the figure bigger the grimace;-) And all these were barbies. We then moved to Pantaloons who too have a small collection of toys. She finally zeroed in on the stuffed animal collection. When I said it was okay for her to select a zebra which was priced at 399 she tells me 'Do you have that much money on you?" after satisfying herself that I will not go broke she decides that the zebra is no good, and spots something which is 625, since it is not ending in 99 she is quite happy with that one, until she spots at tiger cub for 399/-
Which she held on to, to be reluctantly handed over for price scanning, and back to her [tell him not to pack it!] She only let go at the food court when she was eating, when she went off to wash her hands we packed her toy and pushed off. After she had finished washing she ran skipped back towards the tables. Getting a little disoriented first and then [she is good at directions] getting our now empty table. Comes back with a cross face, knowing we have taken it [and not lost] recovers it from the bag and back in her hand.
So with that new cub, she was proud as a puppy;-)

| Seen on a Chinese soap bubble gun we got for Kavya yesterday.
USE EXPLAIN THE BUBBLE LIQUID HAS NOT POISON. BUT DO NOT FOR EAT
All caps was theirs and the font size was huge. But on the plus side the gun is really good and Kavya is happy with the bubbles it blows. Bought at Big Bazaar, for Rs 149/- for which we got another gun free.

| My brother calls up just now and asks "What is the name of that toy train we bought in Germany?" I say Marklin, and then ask why [I thought maybe he is asking some to buy or something] and he says it a clue for a crossword he is solving [ like last time] And he says it is 6 letters ending with nel. I remember that, check my book marks and tell me " Lionel." | |

| Toy ScorpioCrude but passable toys of Indian cars are now making the rounds of toy stores. You can now buy Ambassador, Sumo, autorickshaws and such other models. Today I spotted this Mahindra and Mahindra Scorpio on eBay. The seller promises that it has no sharp edges. Heh! | |

| Suchitra told me that last week that Kavya came to her asking for a "purple racing car!" for which Suchitra told her that they are expensive and "...do you know that it will cost at least 100 Rupees?" for which the answer is "...but I have 10 Rupees with me!" [that will be the Rs 10 note I gave her last week for her piggy bank. The one also refers to as a dollar.] | |

Things that I would love to do but can't/won't do:-)

| Since she was a little baby of two years Kavya has had a habit of bringing some of her toys, not necessarily toys toys, but little sticks, boxes, or anything with her to bed. This she will carefully place it under the pillow before going to sleep. Two weeks ago she was not well and sleeping with us, and she placed a stick she had found [for beating a Frisbee she has as a drum] very carefully under the pillow.
Somehow small things like these brings back those fond memories.
She also has this habit of collecting small glittery things that she has found over time, tikklis fallen off from someone's dress, shiny pebbles, buttons, etc and keeps it very carefully in her designated drawer;-) She also has a bunch of purses, handbags, backpacks [all kiddy of course] that all contain assorted stuff like these, with which she plays with and carefully puts away after she is done.
Another thing she collects are tags from clothes, especially kiddy clothes, that generally are thick, and have some cartoon characters on them. She used to call them license based what happened in a Sponge Bob episiode;-) These are placed in the purses.
Once she placed two open umbellas side by side overlapping each other, covered it with a blanket, and placed a few of her toys inside including two Barbie's and promptly went to sleep:-)
